Sumitra is 16 years old and has been an NCEP scholar for three years. She lives in a loving and supportive boarding school setting and, as well as academics, is receiving training such as spinning and weaving, providing her with practical skills. She is doing well in school and appreciates the chance she is receiving for a better future. NCEP believes strongly in enabling education for females and keeping students in school until graduation. Sumitra is well on her way to helping NCEP achieve these goals.
2010-11 is a very important school year for Sumitra, who will be writing her School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams at the end of the year. NCEP will carefully monitor her progress this year to give her the best possible chance at success, and will also help her assess the opportunities that lie ahead next year.
